Tosha Schareina Makes History at the 40th Edition of the Baja Aragón
Last weekend, the town of Teruel witnessed a historic moment during the 40th edition of the Baja Aragón, renowned as the most significant Baja in Europe. With top riders from various categories participating, the event stood out for its competitive spirit and the toughness of its course.
Dominance by Tosha Schareina
Tosha Schareina, representing the Monster Energy Honda Team, came to this edition with the goal of maintaining his excellent form through a training-test. The intense temperatures added an extra layer of difficulty to the competition, reaching peaks that tested both the Valencian rider and his CRF450 Rally.
From the first stage, Schareina displayed his dominance by setting the best time in the 3.62-mile (5.83 km) prologue in Gea de Albarracín. He continued to win all subsequent special stages in the Jiloca area, including Torrijo del Campo, Cella, Argente, and Ojos Negros.
An Epic Competition
Schareina acknowledged that this was one of the toughest competitions in recent years, covering nearly 500 miles (800 kilometers) of rugged terrain through the Jiloca, Teruel, and Gea de Albarracín regions. However, his skill and endurance allowed him not only to complete the challenge but also to achieve a resounding victory.
With this triumph, Tosha Schareina becomes the first rider in history to win three consecutive editions of the Baja España Aragón in the motorcycle category, an unprecedented achievement that underscores his remarkable form.
Reflections from the Champion
“This edition of the Baja Aragón has been one of the most challenging I have faced,” said Schareina. “The race featured countless miles of rocky terrain and extremely slow areas, which tested not only my endurance but also the durability of our rally bike.
“The key to overcoming these obstacles was to maintain a smooth ride and stay calm at all times. It is essential not to push the bike to the limit to avoid making mistakes that could result in mechanical problems.
“Winning my third consecutive Baja Aragón is incredibly special for me. This win is a significant personal achievement and highlights the tireless work and dedication of the entire team.”
Tosha Schareina’s victory at the Baja Aragón not only marks a significant personal milestone but also highlights the extraordinary efforts of the Monster Energy Honda Team, setting a high bar for future competitions.
