A Year of Preparation
Edgar’s 2024 season has been packed with challenges, competing in events like the Rally Portugal, Rallye du Maroc, Desafío Ruta 40, Oasis Rally, and Baja Aragón. Making his world championship debut at Rally Portugal, Canet impressed early, securing third place in the prologue and finishing 11th overall, with a podium finish in the Rally2 category.
Focused on the Goal
Entering his first-ever Dakar Rally, Edgar is fully focused on reaching the finish line while learning the nuances of the iconic race. Drawing on his extensive navigation training and mentorship from teammates Luciano Benavides, Kevin Benavides, and Daniel Sanders, he feels prepared for the challenge ahead.
Edgar Canet shared his excitement:
“I’m really excited to have qualified for Dakar 2025 and to be supported by KTM for my debut in the world’s most demanding rally is a dream come true. I’ve been racing on a KTM since I was four years old, so to join the factory team now is amazing. My goal is to get to the finish line and learn as much about the race as possible, and I feel mentally and physically ready for what is to come. Thank you to KTM for the support, and I can’t wait to get underway in Saudi Arabia!”
A Promising Talent
Rally Team Manager Andreas Hölzl expressed confidence in Edgar’s potential:
“We’re super happy to announce that Edgar Canet is joining us in Rally2 for Dakar! At only 19 years old, he is performing really well and we’re looking forward to supporting him through his first Dakar.”
With years of experience racing KTM motorcycles and an impressive debut season under his belt, Edgar is ready to take on the world’s toughest rally. His journey begins January 3 in Saudi Arabia, as he joins the Red Bull KTM Factory Racing team for the adventure of a lifetime.
This news underscores KTM’s commitment to fostering new talent while showcasing the enduring spirit of rally racing. Stay tuned for Edgar’s progress in the 2025 Dakar Rally!
