KTM Celebrates 30 Years of DUKE with Special Exhibition at the KTM Museum

The KTM DUKE, a symbol of agility, performance, and adrenaline, celebrates its 30th anniversary with a special exhibition at the KTM Motohall in Mattighofen. This legendary motorcycle, which revolutionized the world of street bikes, will be honored in a spectacular two-year exhibition that showcases the history, innovation, and evolution of the DUKE series.

The brainchild of road racer and KTM R&D employee Wolfgang Felber in the early 1990s, the first KTM DUKE was born from Felber’s desire to create a street bike using a KTM 550 Enduro as the foundation. With the help of Managing Director Kalman Cseh and designer Gerald Kiska, the KTM DUKE was launched, quickly becoming an icon for those seeking an unfiltered riding experience.

The exhibit at the KTM Motohall spans over 300 square meters and features 15 extraordinary single- and twin-cylinder motorbikes that trace the development of the DUKE over three decades. One of the exhibition’s most striking elements is a suspended “exploded” KTM 1390 SUPER DUKE R, showcasing the bike’s individual parts in mid-air and providing a unique glimpse into its engineering. Additionally, visitors can interact with a KTM 990 DUKE in a wheely position inside a black container, posing for photos that capture the thrill of the DUKE experience.

A highlight of the exhibition is the Community Wall, where fans can submit their own DUKE snapshots to be displayed on a giant LED wall, allowing them to become part of the exhibit.

The grand opening on October 12th promises a dynamic day filled with stunt shows featuring Rok Bagoroš, tech talks with the masterminds behind the DUKE, including Wolfgang Felber, and a family-friendly program with guided test rides, children’s activities in the Innovation Lab, and food trucks. This opening event will provide an unforgettable start to the exhibition, which will run until 2025.

For those wanting to immerse themselves in the history of KTM’s racing legacy, the exhibition also includes the “LEGENDS OF THE DAKAR” exhibit, providing an in-depth look at KTM’s Dakar victories and their impact on motorcycle racing.
