La semana reuni\u00f3 a excompetidores de Gold, ganadores del Dakar, especialistas en Adventure, realizadores, instructores y pilotos con enormes comunidades sigui\u00e9ndolos desde las redes. Mario Rom\u00e1n debut\u00f3 en la categor\u00eda y gan\u00f3 Adventure Ultimate sobre una CFMOTO 450MT. Pol Tarr\u00e9s pele\u00f3 hasta el \u00faltimo d\u00eda con la Yamaha T\u00e9n\u00e9r\u00e9 700, mientras Kevin Gallas, Dieter Rudolf, Jonny Walker, Sam Sunderland, Adam Riemann y decenas de nombres m\u00e1s le dieron profundidad a una historia que fue mucho m\u00e1s all\u00e1 del podio. Hubo motos que rompieron piezas, atravesaron minas, treparon pendientes y necesitaron varias manos para seguir avanzando. El primer obst\u00e1culo esperaba en pleno centro de Sibiu sin importarle demasiado la cilindrada, la reputaci\u00f3n ni las buenas intenciones. Por delante hab\u00eda un circuito de 700 metros cargado con diecinueve obst\u00e1culos. Troncos por todos lados. Rocas, neum\u00e1ticos de tractor, bloques de hormig\u00f3n, rampas, agua, saltos y hasta cucharones de excavadoras ocupaban la angosta franja de asfalto sobre Bulevardul Corneliu Coposu. Miles de espectadores se apretaban contra las vallas mientras los motores retumbaban entre las calles de la ciudad.<\/p>\n
Por primera vez, los pilotos de Adventure Ultimate pudieron probar durante DEMOmaniacs el mismo trazado del pr\u00f3logo, sin modificaciones. Sus motos multicil\u00edndricas llevaban suficiente peso como para castigar cualquier decisi\u00f3n apresurada. Cada aterrizaje importaba. Cada p\u00e9rdida de equilibrio exig\u00eda fuerza, precisi\u00f3n y una mano derecha capaz de mantener la calma. Varios obst\u00e1culos ofrec\u00edan l\u00edneas alternativas algo m\u00e1s sencillas, aunque elegirlas significaba perder tiempo. La decisi\u00f3n era bastante clara: tomar el camino seguro y entregar algunos segundos, o comprometerse con la l\u00ednea directa y aceptar lo que esperara del otro lado.<\/p>\n

Pol Tarr\u00e9s llegaba como ganador de Adventure Ultimate en 2025 y como uno de los pilotos que ayudaron a llevar las grandes Adventure hasta terrenos propios del enduro extremo. Kevin Gallas, Dieter Rudolf, Jonny Walker y un grupo cargado de experiencia completaban una largada donde nadie parec\u00eda dispuesto a regalar nada. Entonces Mario Rom\u00e1n encontr\u00f3 su ritmo.<\/p>\n
Despu\u00e9s de diez a\u00f1os en Gold y cinco podios en Romaniacs, el espa\u00f1ol llegaba a Adventure Ultimate sobre una CFMOTO 450MT. La categor\u00eda era nueva para \u00e9l. Los obst\u00e1culos, no. Tarr\u00e9s y Gallas intercambiaron posiciones durante las primeras vueltas mientras Rom\u00e1n se manten\u00eda cerca. El agua arrastrada sobre el circuito hab\u00eda dejado troncos y rampas resbaladizos. Tarr\u00e9s cay\u00f3 y apareci\u00f3 la oportunidad. Rom\u00e1n tom\u00f3 la punta, mantuvo la moto fluyendo de un obst\u00e1culo al siguiente y evit\u00f3 errores costosos. Cruz\u00f3 la meta primero, seguido por Tarr\u00e9s y Rudolf. En 2026 participaron nueve clases divididas en tres categor\u00edas. Gold, Silver, Bronze, Iron y Atom formaron el grupo Enduro. Adventure Ultimate, Adventure Core y Adventure Lite integraron la categor\u00eda Adventure, mientras eMoto Hobby complet\u00f3 la grilla. Adventure Ultimate, Adventure Core y Adventure Lite llevaron tres niveles de dificultad diferentes a los C\u00e1rpatos. Ultimate meti\u00f3 a pilotos experimentados en subidas t\u00e9cnicas, huellas profundas, piedra suelta y terrenos propios del enduro extremo. Core combin\u00f3 largas jornadas con sectores f\u00edsicos y obst\u00e1culos cl\u00e1sicos de Romaniacs. Lite ofreci\u00f3 una entrada gradual a la competencia, aunque sus participantes tambi\u00e9n enfrentaron caminos rocosos, rutas alpinas, descensos complicados y muchas horas de concentraci\u00f3n. Mario Rom\u00e1n conoc\u00eda Red Bull Romaniacs lo suficiente como para saber qu\u00e9 tan r\u00e1pido pod\u00eda desaparecer una buena semana. Hab\u00eda pasado diez a\u00f1os en Gold, conseguido cinco podios y aprendido a leer terrenos pensados para romper el ritmo. Una piedra escondida pod\u00eda doblar una rueda. Una mala l\u00ednea pod\u00eda enterrar la moto en una huella. Una ca\u00edda al final del d\u00eda pod\u00eda borrar horas de manejo preciso.<\/p>\n
Lo que Rom\u00e1n todav\u00eda no sab\u00eda era c\u00f3mo se trasladar\u00eda toda esa experiencia a la CFMOTO 450MT. Lleg\u00f3 a la edici\u00f3n 2026 sin haber disputado antes una carrera de Adventure Bike. La moto exig\u00eda otra manera de frenar, buscar equilibrio y administrar energ\u00eda, aunque los instintos construidos durante una d\u00e9cada en Gold segu\u00edan ah\u00ed. La victoria en el pr\u00f3logo ofreci\u00f3 la primera respuesta.<\/p>\n
Rom\u00e1n llev\u00f3 ese ritmo al Offroad Day 1, donde 149 kil\u00f3metros de terreno h\u00famedo, polvo, huellas profundas y una mina abandonada separaban la largada de la meta. Pol Tarr\u00e9s se mantuvo cerca sobre la Yamaha T\u00e9n\u00e9r\u00e9 700, mientras Dieter Rudolf avanzaba detr\u00e1s con la KTM 890. Menos de un minuto separaba a los tres primeros. Rom\u00e1n volvi\u00f3 a ganar en el Day 2. Su semana estuvo a punto de terminar por un problema mec\u00e1nico en el Day 2, hasta que su compa\u00f1ero de Triumph, Ivan Cervantes, abandon\u00f3 su propia carrera en Adventure Core y cedi\u00f3 las piezas que Walker necesitaba para continuar. Romaniacs registra posiciones de llegada; hay decisiones cuyo valor nunca aparece en la clasificaci\u00f3n.<\/p>\n

La preparaci\u00f3n para la carrera muchas veces empezaba sacando todo lo que el piloto no fuera a necesitar. Desaparec\u00edan pedalines de pasajero, asas traseras, soportes innecesarios y otros elementos. Algunos equipos incluso quitaban un disco delantero y su c\u00e1liper para ahorrar peso. Los pilotos enfrentaron subidas empinadas, bajadas sueltas, huellas profundas, piedras escondidas y largos tramos donde ir parado sobre los pedalines se convert\u00eda en un ejercicio f\u00edsico constante. El peso volv\u00eda en cada correcci\u00f3n, aparec\u00eda en el manillar cuando la rueda delantera ca\u00eda dentro de un surco y se met\u00eda en las piernas cuando la parte trasera se cruzaba sobre piedra suelta.<\/p>\n
Despu\u00e9s el recorrido entr\u00f3 en las minas. El Offroad Day 1 termin\u00f3 dentro del complejo abandonado de Petrila. Los pilotos atravesaron edificios de hormig\u00f3n da\u00f1ados, pasillos estrechos, escaleras rotas, vigas ca\u00eddas y montones de escombros antes de llegar a una meta cubierta de polvo negro de carb\u00f3n. Lupeni sigui\u00f3 en el Day 2. Estructuras oxidadas e instalaciones industriales en ruinas transformaron otra mina hist\u00f3rica en un final t\u00e9cnico, obligando a motos anchas y pesadas a pasar por espacios con muy poco margen de error.<\/p>\n
Y esas im\u00e1genes viajaron mucho m\u00e1s all\u00e1 de Rumania. Adam Riemann fue mostrando su proyecto con BMW y la realidad de correrlo. Kevin Gallas comparti\u00f3 el campamento Yamaha junto a Pol Tarr\u00e9s, mientras su equipo de medios persegu\u00eda la carrera por rutas alternativas en la monta\u00f1a. Adventure Lite cerr\u00f3 la semana con tres CFMOTO 450MT ocupando el podio. Red Bull Romaniacs has spent more than two decades sending riders into the Carpathian Mountains with a GPS, a motorcycle, and very little room for error. The 2026 UNSTOPPABLE edition carried that formula into new territory. One hundred Adventure Bike competitors entered three dedicated classes, facing a city Prolog, four Offroad Days, abandoned mines, alpine ridges, rock gardens, deep ruts, and the final climbs of Sibiu. Machines associated with long-distance travel arrived prepared for competition and entered terrain built around precision, balance, and endurance.<\/p>\n
The week brought together former Gold Class contenders, Dakar winners, Adventure specialists, filmmakers, instructors, and riders with large online followings. Mario Rom\u00e1n entered the category for the first time and won Adventure Ultimate aboard a CFMOTO 450MT. Pol Tarr\u00e9s fought until the final day on the Yamaha T\u00e9n\u00e9r\u00e9 700, while Kevin Gallas, Dieter Rudolf, Jonny Walker, Sam Sunderland, Adam Riemann, and dozens of others gave the category depth beyond the podium. Their motorcycles broke parts, crossed mines, climbed hills, and sometimes needed several hands to keep moving. The first obstacle waited in the middle of Sibiu with no interest in engine size, reputation, or good intentions.<\/p>\n
Ahead lay a 700-meter (2,300-foot) course packed with nineteen obstacles. Logs appeared almost everywhere. Rocks, tractor tires, concrete barriers, ramps, water, gaps, and excavator buckets filled the narrow strip of pavement along Bulevardul Corneliu Coposu. Thousands of spectators pressed against the barriers while engines echoed through the city.<\/p>\n
For the first time, Adventure Ultimate riders were allowed to test the unmodified Prolog during DEMOmaniacs. Their multi-cylinder motorcycles carried enough mass to punish a rushed line. Every landing mattered. Every loss of balance demanded strength, timing, and a calm throttle hand.<\/p>\n
Alternate lines offered an easier path around several obstacles, but carried a time penalty. The decision was simple. Take the safer route and lose seconds, or commit to the direct line and accept whatever waited on the other side.<\/p>\n
Pol Tarr\u00e9s arrived as the defending Adventure Ultimate winner and one of the riders who helped push large-capacity Adventure motorcycles into extreme enduro terrain. Kevin Gallas, Dieter Rudolf, Jonny Walker, and a field of experienced competitors added pressure to the start.<\/p>\n
Then Mario Rom\u00e1n found his rhythm.<\/p>\n

After ten years in Gold and five Romaniacs podiums, the Spaniard entered Adventure Ultimate aboard a CFMOTO 450MT. The category was new to him. The obstacles were not.<\/p>\n
Tarr\u00e9s and Gallas traded positions during the opening laps while Rom\u00e1n stayed close. Water carried onto the course made the logs and ramps slick. Tarr\u00e9s fell, and the opening appeared. Rom\u00e1n moved into the lead, kept the motorcycle flowing from one obstacle to the next, and avoided costly mistakes.<\/p>\n
He crossed the finish first, ahead of Tarr\u00e9s and Rudolf.<\/p>\n
It was Rom\u00e1n\u2019s first victory at Red Bull Romaniacs.<\/p>\n
The following morning, the riders would leave the pavement behind for four Offroad Days across the Carpathian Mountains. Mines, alpine ridges, deep ruts, rock gardens, forest climbs, and long hours on the motorcycle were still waiting.<\/p>\n
Adventure Ultimate had survived the show.<\/p>\n

Red Bull Romaniacs began in 2004 with an idea that still sounds unreasonable. Bring riders to Sibiu, Romania, send them into the Carpathian Mountains, and keep testing them for five consecutive days.<\/p>\n
The In-City Prolog opens the competition in front of thousands of spectators and determines the starting order for the first Offroad Day. The third-place finisher leaves first, followed by the runner-up and then the Prolog winner.<\/p>\n
From there, the city gives way to four long days of mountain racing. Each morning begins at an Offroad start, passes through a mandatory Service Point, and continues toward the finish. Routes vary by class, with some covering up to 180 kilometers (112 miles) in a single day. A missed line, a mechanical problem, or several minutes spent lifting a motorcycle can reshape the standings quickly.<\/p>\n
Nine classes competed in 2026 across three categories. Gold, Silver, Bronze, Iron, and Atom formed the Enduro field. Adventure Ultimate, Adventure Core, and Adventure Lite carried the Adventure category, while eMoto Hobby completed the lineup.<\/p>\n
The UNSTOPPABLE edition also pushed the rally into the Jiu Valley, a historic mining region absent from the route since 2018. Competitors spent two nights away from Sibiu, with Enduro riders based in Straja and the Adventure field staying in Petro\u0219ani. Petrila and Lupeni added abandoned buildings, narrow corridors, broken stairways, and coal dust to a route already filled with forests, alpine ridges, loose rock, deep ruts, and steep gullies.<\/p>\n

A mechanical problem on the final morning cost Kabakchiev valuable time, and Lettenbichler reached the Sibiu Hillclimb Arena to secure victory number seven, drawing level with Graham Jarvis.<\/p>\n

At 51 years old, he entered Gold aboard the electric Jarv-E, completed all four Offroad Days, and posted the second-fastest time through the massive rock features of the LIVEmaniacs stage on Day 2. Adventure Ultimate, Adventure Core, and Adventure Lite brought three distinct levels of difficulty to the Carpathians. Mario Rom\u00e1n knew Red Bull Romaniacs well enough to understand how quickly a good week could disappear.<\/p>\n
He had spent ten years in Gold, reached the podium five times, and learned to read terrain designed to break rhythm. A hidden rock could bend a wheel. A poor line could bury a motorcycle in a rut. One fall late in the day could erase hours of precise riding.<\/p>\n
What Rom\u00e1n did not know was how that experience would translate to the CFMOTO 450MT.<\/p>\n
He arrived in 2026 without a previous Adventure Bike race behind him. The motorcycle demanded a different approach to braking, balance, and energy management, but the instincts built through a decade in Gold were still there.<\/p>\n
The Prolog victory provided the first answer.<\/p>\n
Rom\u00e1n carried that form into Offroad Day 1, where 149 kilometers (93 miles) of damp ground, dust, deep ruts, and an abandoned mine separated the start from the finish. Pol Tarr\u00e9s stayed close on the Yamaha T\u00e9n\u00e9r\u00e9 700, while Dieter Rudolf followed aboard the KTM 890.<\/p>\n

Rom\u00e1n won again on Day 2. A severe rock garden and repeated technical sections kept Tarr\u00e9s within reach and Rudolf firmly in third.<\/p>\nBehind them, Kevin Gallas kept pressure on the podium group aboard another Yamaha T\u00e9n\u00e9r\u00e9 700. Jonny Walker wrestled the Triumph Tiger 900 Rally Pro through the same terrain with much of its production equipment still in place. His week nearly ended after mechanical trouble on Day 2, until Triumph teammate Ivan Cervantes gave up his own Adventure Core race and donated the parts Walker needed to continue.<\/p>\n
Romaniacs records finishing positions. It rarely measures the value of a decision like that.<\/p>\n
Tarr\u00e9s finally interrupted Rom\u00e1n\u2019s run on Offroad Day 3, winning by five seconds after hours of racing. The result sent both riders into the final morning with the title still open.<\/p>\n
Then the terrain fought back.<\/p>\n
While passing riders in heavy dust, Tarr\u00e9s struck a large rock and damaged the right footpeg assembly and rear brake controls. He continued toward the Service Point without a secure place for his right foot, losing a critical contact point for controlling the motorcycle through rough terrain. A later crash damaged his visor.<\/p>\n
Rom\u00e1n kept his day clean.<\/p>\n
He protected the advantage built earlier in the week. Rudolf pushed from third. Gallas finished fourth and became the first Adventure competitor to conquer the main hillclimb at Sibiu. Walker brought the Tiger home in sixth.<\/p>\n
When Rom\u00e1n crossed beneath the final arch, his first Red Bull Romaniacs victory had arrived on his first attempt in Adventure Ultimate.<\/p>\n

Part of the fascination surrounding Adventure Ultimate came from the motorcycles themselves.<\/p>\n
They carried names found in dealerships, travel films, and weekend ride reports. Yamaha T\u00e9n\u00e9r\u00e9 700. Triumph Tiger 900 Rally Pro. KTM 890. BMW F 900 GS. CFMOTO 450MT.<\/p>\n
Romaniacs placed those familiar silhouettes inside terrain that seemed determined to pull them apart.<\/p>\n
Race preparation often began by removing anything the rider would not need. Passenger footpegs, rear grab handles, unnecessary brackets, and other equipment disappeared. Some teams even removed one front brake disc and caliper to save weight.<\/p>\n
Every pound mattered when a motorcycle had to be lifted from a rut or dragged back onto a line.<\/p>\n
Jonny Walker\u2019s Triumph took a different approach. His Tiger 900 Rally Pro retained much of its production equipment, including both front brake discs. Adam Riemann joked that it looked like a dealership demo bike wearing racing graphics.<\/p>\n

The riders faced steep climbs, loose descents, deep ruts, hidden rocks, and long sections where standing on the footpegs became a constant physical exercise. The weight returned with every correction, through the handlebars when the front wheel dropped into a channel and through the legs when the rear stepped sideways on loose stone.<\/p>\n
Then the route entered the mines.<\/p>\n
Offroad Day 1 finished inside the abandoned Petrila complex. Riders passed through damaged concrete buildings, narrow corridors, ruined stairways, fallen beams, and piles of debris before reaching the timing line covered in black coal dust.<\/p>\n
Lupeni followed on Day 2. Rusted steel structures and industrial remains turned another historic mining site into a technical finish, forcing wide Adventure motorcycles through spaces that left little room for error.<\/p>\n
The images travelled far beyond Romania.<\/p>\n
Adam Riemann documented his BMW project and the reality of racing it. Kevin Gallas shared the Yamaha camp with Pol Tarr\u00e9s while his media crew chased the competition through alternate mountain routes. Sandro Schmid moved between access points with cameras and riding gear, often creating a separate adventure just to reach the next shot.<\/p>\n
Other riders and creators filled social media with onboard footage, repairs, crashes, exhausted conversations, and motorcycles stuck at angles that never appeared in the official highlights. Chris Birch, a former Romaniacs winner and an early figure in bringing large Adventure bikes into the event, followed the action as an expert commentator.<\/p>\n
The official results explained who gained time.<\/p>\n

Adventure Core reached Sibiu with its battle still alive. Ren\u00e9 Columna secured the overall victory aboard a CFMOTO 450MT, while Sam Sunderland charged through the final day on the Triumph Tiger 900 Rally Pro to finish second, eleven minutes behind. New Zealand\u2019s Chris Power completed the podium on another CFMOTO 450MT.<\/p>\n
Adventure Lite ended with CFMOTO 450MT motorcycles filling all three podium positions. China\u2019s Guishu He took the victory, followed by Romania\u2019s Adrian R\u0103du\u021b\u0103 and Czech rider Mat\u011bj Oliva after four days of rocky trails, alpine terrain, difficult loops, and long hours in the Carpathians.<\/p>\n
Every remaining competitor eventually faced the Sibiu Hillclimb Arena.<\/p>\n
Steep climbs, motocross-style ramps, technical obstacles, and a gap jump waited at the final approach. Thousands of spectators lined the arena as riders arrived carrying four days of dust, damaged motorcycles, tired arms, and the finish arch finally within sight.<\/p>\n
Kevin Gallas reached it fourth overall and became the first Adventure rider to conquer the main hillclimb.<\/p>\n
Jonny Walker arrived later with another mechanical problem on the Triumph.<\/p>\n
The Tiger had already survived a difficult week. An earlier failure had nearly ended Walker\u2019s race before Ivan Cervantes surrendered parts from his own motorcycle to keep his teammate moving.
