Ducati Redefines Excellence with the New V2 Engine and Multistrada V2
Borgo Panigale, Italy – Ducati’s latest innovations in big-trail motorcycle engineering have redefined performance, versatility, and rider experience. With the unveiling of the groundbreaking V2 engine and the redesigned Multistrada V2 crossover, the iconic Italian brand continues to lead the industry into uncharted territory.
The Lightest Ducati Twin-Cylinder: A Revolution in Engine Design
Ducati’s V2 engine sets a new benchmark for twin-cylinder performance. Weighing just 54.4 kg, this compact and efficient engine is the lightest in Ducati’s illustrious history. Homologated under the Euro5+ standard, the V2 represents a perfect balance of cutting-edge technology and Ducati’s legendary engineering heritage.
The V2’s advanced features include:
- IVT Variable Valve Timing: This innovation delivers a torque-rich powerband for smooth, consistent acceleration at low revs and sportbike-level performance at high revs.
- DLC-Treated Rocker Arms: Borrowed from Ducati’s MotoGP expertise, this feature enhances durability and efficiency.
- Versatile Configurations: Available in 120 hp and 115 hp variants, the engine caters to diverse riding styles, from exhilarating track days to relaxed long-distance tours.
With a compact design, hollow valve stems, and aluminum liners, the V2 is not only light but also thermally efficient. Its 93.3 Nm of torque ensures exceptional performance across a wide rpm range, with more than 70% of the torque available as early as 3,000 rpm.
Multistrada V2: Designed for Every Adventure
On December 5, 2024, Ducati introduced the Multistrada V2, a mid-size crossover that raises the bar for lightness, handling, and rider accessibility. Built around the revolutionary V2 engine, the Multistrada V2 weighs 39.7 pounds less than its predecessor, making it the lightest in its class.
Key highlights include:
- Redesigned Ergonomics: The Multistrada V2 offers a comfortable ride with a two-position adjustable seat height (33.5 inches or 32.7 inches), with further options available through the Ducati Performance catalog.
- Aerodynamic Refinements: A redesigned windshield and lateral air conveyors improve rider comfort and thermal management, even at high speeds.
- Advanced Electronics: The bike is equipped with a state-of-the-art electronics package, including five Riding Modes (Sport, Touring, Urban, Enduro, and Wet), a new 5-inch TFT dashboard, and the Ducati Skyhook Suspension system with Minimum Preload functionality.
Engineered for Versatility
The Multistrada V2 is tailored for diverse adventures. Its 19-inch front wheel ensures stability on uneven terrain, while a 17-inch rear wheel delivers agility. Both wheels are fitted with Pirelli Scorpion Trail II tires, providing excellent grip on and off-road. The bike’s Brembo braking system guarantees precise stopping power with dual 320 mm front discs and a single 265 mm rear disc.
The new monocoque aluminum frame enhances lightness and rigidity, while the semi-active suspension (on the V2 S model) offers unparalleled comfort and performance. Riders can also customize their experience with suspension modes that adjust independently of Riding Modes.
Aesthetic and Functional Design
The Multistrada V2 maintains Ducati’s unmistakable design language, featuring a shorter, more harmonious “beak”, a slim tail, and integrated direction indicators. Every design element serves a functional purpose, from improved aerodynamics to enhanced rider comfort.
Endless Customization Options
Ducati offers a comprehensive range of accessories, including plastic and aluminum side cases, spoked wheels for off-road enthusiasts, and Termignoni exhaust systems for a richer sound experience. The V2 S version also features an optional Travel trim with heated grips and a center stand, making it ideal for extended journeys.
Availability and Pricing
The new Multistrada V2 will arrive at U.S. dealerships in March 2025. Pricing starts at $15,995 for the standard model and $19,295 for the V2 S. Available colors include Ducati Red for the standard model and Storm Green or Ducati Red for the V2 S.
With the new V2 engine and the Multistrada V2, Ducati has not just refined its offerings but revolutionized what’s possible in motorcycle engineering. Whether you’re a thrill-seeker looking for high-performance adventure or a touring enthusiast seeking comfort and versatility, Ducati’s latest innovations are set to unlock new possibilities for every rider.
