Sunnyvale, CA, April 25, 2024—This year, the thrill of off-road racing hits a peak as Ducati North America confirms its participation in the prestigious NORRA Mexican 1000 Pro Rally Class. The event, known for its grueling terrain spanning the entire Baja peninsula over six days, will see Ducati enter with two seasoned riders, Alexander Smith and Steve Kamrad, aboard the 2024 Ducati DesertX Rally motorcycles.

The NORRA Mexican 1000 is not just another race; it’s a test of endurance, skill, and machine. Unlike other off-road races, this course is uniquely tailored for motorcycles and prohibits using GPS, challenging riders to rely solely on roadbook navigation.

Ducati’s venture into this race marks a significant turn towards embracing the raw spirit of motorcycling adventure in North America. The riders, Alexander Smith and Steve Kamrad are no strangers to the demands of desert racing. Smith, a Ducati veteran, has over a decade of experience with the brand, highlighted by his remarkable performances at Pikes Peak and the Scrambler Ducati Desert Sled at the 2020 Mint 400. Kamrad brings a fresh perspective from his extensive background in motorcycle journalism and competitive rally racing.

The partnership with Aurora Rally, Termignoni, Pirelli, and Denali Electronics underscores Ducati’s commitment to excellence and innovation in motorcycle racing. Each partner brings a unique strength that enhances the DesertX Rally, from the distinctive Italian sound of Termignoni’s exhaust systems to the superior grip and handling provided by Pirelli tires.

As the NORRA Mexican 1000 countdown begins, all eyes will be on Ducati North America, preparing to chart a new course in off-road racing history.
