Real-World Performance of the Cardo Packtalk Pro
During our six-day journey through the NE BDR Route, we tested the Cardo Packtalk Pro, facing diverse conditions from the bustling streets of New York to the remote trails of northern Vermont. Here’s how it performed:
- Clarity of Communication: The 45mm JBL speakers delivered impressive audio quality, with rich bass and clear highs, even in the challenging open-helmet setup of the Alpinestars Supertech M10. The sound experience was consistently excellent.
- Ease of Use: Integrating the Packtalk Pro with our smartphones (both iOS and Android) was straightforward. The app setup was intuitive, and pairing the units before the ride was as simple as simultaneously pressing a button on each device.
- Weather Resistance: We encountered extreme heat that caused our phones to overheat and heavy rain that soaked the units, yet the Packtalk Pro continued to function flawlessly. The IP67 waterproof rating proved its worth, handling all weather conditions without a hitch.
- Battery Life: We rode from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. each day, and after charging the units nightly for about an hour, the battery never dropped below 75%. This suggests that the Packtalk Pro could last up to four days of continuous use without recharging.
- Magnetic Connection: The magnetic mount is a marvel of design. Simply bringing the unit close to the helmet’s base causes it to snap into place securely, making the process effortless and precise.
- High-Speed Performance: Despite riding over 70 mph (113 km/h) with open helmets, the Packtalk Pro’s noise-cancellation technology effectively eliminated wind noise, allowing clear communication. The volume wheel was easily adjusted while riding, even with one finger.
- Crash Detection System: We were initially concerned about false alarms on rough terrain, but after extensive off-road testing, the system remained silent and never sent a false alert. It’s worth noting that this feature can be disabled if you plan to tackle particularly challenging terrain.
- Helmet Integration: We tested the Packtalk Pro across five different helmets, and it always looked sleek. Only one helmet required minor modifications to accommodate the speakers, so it’s advisable to check with your helmet manufacturer regarding compatibility.
In summary, the Cardo Packtalk Pro impressed us across all aspects of our journey, proving to be a reliable and robust companion for any rider looking for top-tier communication and safety features.
The Cardo Packtalk Pro is a must-have Bluetooth communication device with a robust, feature-rich system designed to enhance the riding experience. From its life-saving crash detection to its unparalleled sound quality and seamless connectivity, this device is a must-have for any serious motorcyclist. Whether riding solo or in a group, the Packtalk Pro keeps you connected, safe, and entertained, making it the ultimate riding companion.
