BMW Motorrad USA and BDR Launch the Chattahoochee BDR-X
Woodcliff Lake, NJ — September 16, 2024 — BMW Motorrad USA and the non-profit organization Backcountry Discovery Routes® (BDR®) have teamed up once again to introduce their latest adventure route: the Chattahoochee BDR-X. This marks the fourth collaboration between the two adventure-riding pioneers, designed to offer an exhilarating experience for motorcyclists exploring the scenic backcountry of North Georgia.
The Chattahoochee BDR-X is a 350-mile loop that meanders through the rugged beauty of the Chattahoochee National Forest. Riders will navigate a diverse mix of graded forest roads, challenging two-track trails, and scenic backcountry paved roads, all under the rich canopy of the forest. With highlights like the Toccoa River swinging footbridge, Camp Frank D. Merrill US Army Ranger training facility, mountain lakes, and numerous creek crossings, this route promises a journey filled with natural beauty and adventure.
Designed for year-round riding, with the best conditions between March and December, the Chattahoochee BDR-X offers a unique experience in the southeastern U.S. “This route is a ‘Greatest Hits’ collection of the Chattahoochee National Forest region,” said Kirk Lakeman, Route Architect and BDR Board Member. “Riders will encounter a perfect blend of scenic backcountry, paved and gravel roads, all while crossing paths with the Appalachian Trail multiple times.”
A Route Built for Adventure
Louise C. Powers, an adventure riding instructor and member of the film expedition team, reflected on the experience: “Riding the BDR-X Chattahoochee felt like a highlight tour of Northern Georgia’s hidden beauty. Even after three days of rain and mud, the fun and camaraderie and the surprises along the way remained.”
The Chattahoochee BDR-X is the latest in BDR’s mission to create unforgettable off-highway routes for dual-sport and adventure motorcyclists, drive economic support to rural areas, and promote rider safety and education.
