Aprilia Tuareg 660 and Jacopo Cerutti
This weekend, the world of Motorcycling witnessed an unprecedented milestone. Jacopo Cerutti’s Aprilia Tuareg 660 reached the top spot in the Italian Motorally Championship’s overall standings, marking the first time a twin-cylinder bike has achieved this honor in the competition’s history.
The stage was set in Rapino, where the special stages stood out for their length and complexity. Cerutti made it to the podium on both days, winning in his G-1000 category and securing third place overall on Saturday despite facing some technical issues and a roadbook error. However, Sunday was the day of absolute glory, as Cerutti led the Aprilia Tuareg 660 to first place in the overall standings, breaking the tradition of victories dominated by single-cylinder bikes.
Francesco Montanari, Cerutti’s teammate in the G-1000 category, also had a notable performance, finishing third on Saturday and securing sixth place in the category standings.
In the FX category, Claudio Spanu had an equally successful weekend. The Sardinian rider reached the podium on Saturday and claimed first place on Sunday with a three-minute lead, solidifying his fight for the championship title.
The success of the Aprilia Tuareg 660, developed in close collaboration with the GCorse team led by the Guareschi brothers, continues to write a new chapter in Motoring history. It proves the competitiveness and reliability of twin-cylinder models. This achievement highlights the importance of the collaboration between rider and team in creating a high-performance machine for the most demanding rally competitions.
The final championship stage will occur in Olbia from October 18 to 20, where the 2024 Motorally champions will be decided.
Jacopo Cerutti: “We are delighted with the weekend, especially for achieving the first victory of a twin-cylinder bike in the overall standings. The races were challenging, with varied terrain, from dry to muddy, and long, demanding special stages in terms of navigation. We’re heading to Sardinia with a lead that gives us even more confidence.”
Massimo Rivola: “What Jacopo achieved with the Aprilia Tuareg 660 is truly special. Winning the overall with a twin-cylinder bike surprised all the participants and Motorally experts. Congratulations to Jacopo and the Guareschi team for their excellent work.”
The Italian Motorally season is nearing its end, and the Aprilia Tuareg 660 has left an indelible mark on its history.
