The documentary, produced by Piaggio Studios in collaboration with Punctum Image, premiered on June 8th during the grand Aprilia All Stars party and is now available for everyone to watch on APRILIA.COM and Aprilia’s official YouTube channel. Experience the thrills of this historic victory, from the pre-race jitters to the sheer joy of crossing the legendary “Lac Rose” in Dakar.
Last January, the Aprilia Tuareg made history with one of the most remarkable performances in recent years. Piloted by Jacopo Cerutti, the Italian twin-cylinder bike led the charge across over 3,700 miles (6,000 kilometers) from Europe to Dakar, Senegal, traversing the challenging terrains of Morocco and Mauritania. Cerutti and his Tuareg remained at the forefront throughout this legendary route, marking a significant achievement in the world of African rally raids.
Behind the Scenes
The 20-minute documentary offers a profound glimpse into the race, featuring stunning visuals and interviews with key figures such as riders Jacopo Cerutti and Francesco Montanari, and the Guareschi brothers, Vittoriano and Gianfranco, of GCorse, Aprilia Racing’s competitive arm. The film captures the intense emotions, expectations, and challenges faced by the team and riders, providing an unprecedented look behind the scenes of this unique event.
The documentary revisits the triumphs of the initial stages, where Cerutti established and maintained his lead against formidable competitors like Botturi and Tarres, both riding Yamaha bikes. Francesco Montanari, a newcomer, also delivered an impressive performance, reaching the Dakar finish line with two stage podiums and a commendable eighth-place overall.
A Sense of Community
Beyond the race, the documentary showcases the deep respect among rivals and the strong sense of camaraderie that develops among all participants. The wonderful images captured over the 12 days in the African desert reveal the human side of this intense competition, making it a must-watch for fans and enthusiasts alike.
