Upon first unboxing the Giant Loop gear, it was immediately clear: this was love at first sight! The tactile feel of the materials alone—durable, high-quality fabric that feels built to endure—underscored the precision and care in their craftsmanship. Each piece, from the Mojavi Saddlebag to the Rogue Dry Bag and Buckin’ Roll Tank Bag, displayed remarkable sturdiness with a premium finish. As I freed them from their packaging, the meticulous attention to detail was unmistakable. I could sense the exceptional engineering behind these motorcycle accessories, designed with durability in mind. Their robust construction ensures they withstand the elements — dirt, mud, and the harshest rain — reliably accompanying us on countless rides. This immediate confidence in their capability and durability, along with their evident designed-by-riders-for-riders approach, highlighted their purpose: to support the adventurous spirit in every journey, crafted by those who understand the essence of motorcycle exploration.
On the Road with the Mojavi Saddlebag
The Mojavi Saddlebag, which we had the pleasure of testing, not only boasts an impressive load capacity for its size, ideally suited for day-long or weekend adventures, offering a total of 12 liters split evenly between its two compartments, but also shines with its 100% waterproof capability. Its roll-top design, a smart feature that enhances its waterproof quality, along with the absence of stitching, ensures contents stay dry and secure, regardless of weather conditions. This design thoughtfully accommodates all the essentials for on-the-road repairs—ranging from extra tubes and an air compressor to tire levers and a comprehensive toolkit—ensuring we’re prepared for anything the trail throws our way. Adding to its utility, the saddlebag features a J hook on the compression strap for easy adjustment and secure strap keepers, minimizing the hassle of loose ends. Beyond just tools, the saddlebag’s space is versatile enough to stash a variety of other necessities, making it a perfect companion for the wide-ranging needs of adventure riders. Together, these features underscore the Mojavi Saddlebag’s readiness to meet the demands of any adventure, proving it to be an indispensable ally on the road.
Securing the Essentials: Rogue Dry Bag
Next, we fitted the Rogue Dry Bag atop the saddlebags, already secured to the motorcycle’s chassis. Utilizing an additional pair of 32” Pronghorn Straps simplified the installation process even further, but it’s the multifaceted design of the Rogue Dry Bag that truly amplifies its utility. Crafted from rugged Bomb Shell™ coated fabric and boasting 100% waterproof radio-frequency (RF) welded seams, the quality of materials Giant Loop selects is evident, ensuring durability and complete waterproof protection. This bag features roll-top closures at both ends, secured with high-quality clips, and is complemented by vertical compression straps and a molded grab handle for easy handling and adjustment.
A particularly ingenious addition is the air valve, which allows for compression of the bag by expelling trapped air, ensuring contents remain snug and motionless, thus enhancing security during rides. Furthermore, the bag comes with two included carry straps that easily convert it into a backpack, offering versatility in how you carry your gear off the bike. With an added capacity of 17 liters, this bag not only significantly increases our storage options but also seamlessly integrates with Giant Loop Saddlebags and Panniers for a cohesive gear setup. Its reflective daisy chain not only facilitates easy attachment but also enhances visibility, proving invaluable for any adventure we choose to embark on.
The Ultimate Convenience: Buckin’ Roll Tank Bag
Equally impressive is the Tank Bag, offering a compact yet efficient 1.5 liters of space, perfect for storing small essentials like a tire pressure gauge, documents, wallet, and keys. It even features a specially designed compartment for a mobile phone, complete with transparent plastic that allows for touch screen functionality without removing the phone from the bag. The convenience of this design has led me to a firm decision: this tank bag will permanently reside on my bike. Its detachable nature, facilitated by a high-quality, easy-to-manage zipper, makes it effortless to remove or attach the bag without compromising on security or accessibility.
Together, these products from Giant Loop not only cater to the practical needs of adventure riding but also do so with an attention to detail and quality that significantly enhances the overall riding experience. The ease of installation, coupled with the thoughtful features designed for rider convenience, ensures that every outing is as comfortable as it is thrilling.
Setting Up for Success: Installation Made Easy
Transitioning to the installation process on the bike, I was struck by the intuitive design of the Giant Loop gear. Despite the presence of a detailed installation guide, aligning the Tank Bag on the tank felt almost instinctive. Simply positioning it and stretching the straps made it clear where adjustments were needed, showcasing the user-friendly setup. However, my initial overconfidence led me to overlook the instructions, resulting in a common oversight. While attempting to secure the base of the bag with the anchoring straps, I inadvertently obstructed the zipper’s path. This mistake was a clear reminder of Giant Loop’s meticulous attention to detail: the zipper is cleverly designed with an unsewn section underneath, specifically to accommodate the straps without hindrance.
Recognizing the correct method underscored the importance of even the smallest design features, intended to streamline the user experience. Additionally, discovering the elastic loops designed to tidy away excess strap length further impressed upon me the thoughtfulness infused into every aspect of these products. This feature ensures that adjusting or removing the tank bag is a hassle-free process, enhancing the overall practicality and ease of use.
Installing the saddlebags offered a similarly positive impression. Simply finding the right spot on the seat allowed the straps to naturally find their anchoring points, a clear indicator of the product’s user-oriented design. The straps themselves are notably thick and durable, sliding easily through the buckles with a reassuring robustness that instills confidence in their ability to be tightened without the risk of damage. Similar to the tank bag, the saddlebags feature strategically placed velcro tabs to neatly secure any excess strap length, preventing it from flapping in the wind.
Additionally, the inclusion of the Pronghorn Strap for securing the saddlebags to the bike’s rear was a thoughtful touch. Opting to consult the instructions for this step, I discovered an adjustment system that was both intuitive and efficient, allowing me to complete the entire setup in just 15 to 20 minutes. Once in place, with every strap properly adjusted, the system proved to be exceptionally secure. Throughout several rides across varied terrains, there was never a need to readjust the straps, showcasing their ability to withstand the bike’s natural vibrations without issue.
Enhanced Riding Experience: Comfort and Convenience on the Go
The comfort and meticulously planned design of these products are immediately apparent, offering a level of convenience that allows me to forego my usual backpack for day rides. This has significantly improved my overall riding experience, making each journey more comfortable. Mounted on the bike, the gear is so well-integrated that it becomes virtually unnoticeable, never hindering natural movements or adjustments on the seat, even when riding standing on the footpegs. Impressively, they seem to offer additional support to the legs, enhancing stability and comfort further. This seamless integration into the riding experience underscores the thoughtful engineering behind each product, designed with the rider’s comfort and convenience in mind.
Adaptable Adventure: From Enduro to Big Trail Bikes
In my experiences, I’ve found the Giant Loop gear to be remarkably versatile, seamlessly fitting both my nimble 250cc enduro and my robust KTM 790 Adventure R. Their adaptability shone through once again on our most recent journey, when we equipped a BMW R1250 GS Adventure with the same set of gear. The ease of installation impressed me every time, regardless of the bike’s size or design — a clear indication of the universal design approach that Giant Loop has mastered. Specifically, the Mojavi Saddlebags’ ability to adjust and securely attach to the sides of the BMW’s passenger seat was notable. Their design effortlessly accommodated the larger frame of the BMW, while also complementing the bike’s sleek aesthetic and functionality, proving these products are truly designed for a wide range of adventure motorcycles.
Final Thoughts: The Giant Loop Advantage
In conclusion, my journey with the Giant Loop gear has been exceptionally rewarding. The superior construction quality, enduring durability, and thoughtful design of each product, from the Mojavi Saddlebag and Rogue Dry Bag to the Buckin’ Roll Tank Bag, have solidified my confidence in their performance. The straightforward access to their interiors and the simplicity of their opening and closing mechanisms highlight their practicality. Installation is both simple and efficient, reflecting Giant Loop’s commitment to user-friendly design. Additionally, the aesthetic appeal of these products complements a variety of motorcycles, enhancing both functionality and visual appeal.
