SEBDR: The Ultimate Southeast Adventure Route is Here!

Mar 4, 2025 | News

Adventure riders, your next big ride just dropped. The South East Backcountry Discovery Route (SEBDR) is now live, marking the 14th installment in the legendary BDR series. This 1,300-mile dual-sport route carves its way from the sandy shores of Florida’s Gulf Coast through the Appalachian backroads of Alabama, Georgia, Tennessee, and North Carolina, before finishing in Damascus, Virginia. More than just a standalone ride, SEBDR completes the East Coast Trilogy, forming a seamless path from the Gulf of Mexico all the way to Canada.

A Long-Awaited Addition to the BDR Series

The SEBDR isn’t just another route—it’s a long-anticipated expansion that brings the BDR experience deeper into the Southeast. Riders can now tackle a rugged mix of deep sand, red clay, and rocky mountain terrain while soaking in the rich cultural history of the region. Whether you’re drawn to the Spanish moss-draped forests of Florida or the twisty mountain passes of the Appalachians, this route has something for every ADV enthusiast.

This project wouldn’t have been possible without the support of Harley-Davidson, Triumph Motorcycles, Edelweiss Bike Travel, and the entire BDR community. Their efforts continue to push the boundaries of adventure riding, making backcountry exploration more accessible for all.

What to Expect on the SEBDR

  • Diverse Terrain – From sandy stretches in the Florida Panhandle to rocky climbs in North Georgia, SEBDR delivers a variety of challenges.
  • Epic Scenery – Riders will pass through rolling farmland, dense forests, and remote mountain ridges with breathtaking views.
  • Historical Landmarks – Expect encounters with Civil War sites, old mining towns, and hidden gems tucked away in the backcountry.
  • Connection to Other Routes – The SEBDR links directly to the Mid-Atlantic BDR (MABDR), creating an extended adventure opportunity for those looking to continue their journey northward.

Navigating the SEBDR: What You Need to Know

  • GPS Tracks & Maps – The official SEBDR GPS tracks are available for free, and riders can purchase waterproof maps, decals, and exclusive merch.
  • Weather & Road Conditions – Due to Hurricane Helene and ongoing roadwork, some sections are currently closed. Updated GPS files include bypasses, and riders are urged to download the latest tracks before departure.
  • Film Premiere – The official SEBDR film will debut March 1, 2025, in Roswell, GA, featuring BDR representatives, industry partners, and ADV enthusiasts.

Time to Ride!

With the SEBDR now open, adventure awaits. Whether you’re a seasoned ADV rider or a newcomer looking for your first big backcountry journey, this route is ready to deliver. Grab your gear, check your GPS, and hit the trails—the South East Backcountry Discovery Route is calling.
