2025 Silk Way Rally: A Journey Across Siberia, Mongolia, and the Altai Mountains
The 15th edition of the legendary Silk Way Rally promises to be an epic motorsport adventure, taking competitors across Siberia, the vast Mongolian steppes, and into the stunning Altai Mountains. Set to run from July 12 to July 22, 2025, the route spans approximately 3,100 miles (5,000 km), with 1,550 miles (2,500 km) dedicated to competitive stages.
A Route Like No Other
The rally kicks off in Irkutsk, Siberia, near the breathtaking shores of Lake Baikal. Competitors will traverse winding mountain roads before crossing into Mongolia, where they’ll face treacherous flatlands, rocky trails, and the iconic dunes of the Gobi Desert. The grand finale unfolds in Gorno-Altaisk, at the foot of the Altai Mountains, with its rugged landscapes and challenging terrain testing both machine and human endurance.
Multifaceted Challenges Await
Participants can expect varied terrains, from Siberian twists to Mongolia’s deceptive plains and grueling sand dunes. The rally culminates with an ascent and descent in the Altai Mountains, offering dynamic, three-dimensional landscapes. “This year’s route features extended sandy sections and even steeper mountain passes, ensuring it’s one of the toughest editions yet,” noted Viktor Sokolov, Deputy Head of the Silk Way Rally.

The Silk Way Rally welcomes a diverse range of vehicles, including:
- Trucks (T5), Ultimate Cars (T1), Side-by-Side Vehicles (T3), and Production Cars (T2).

More Than a Race
Over its 15-year history, the Silk Way Rally has become a celebration of cultural exchange and international camaraderie. Vladimir Chagin, the rally’s project head, emphasized, “The Silk Way Rally isn’t just an event; it’s a unique, two-week adventure that creates lasting memories and brings people together from around the world.”
